How to play

Two puzzles a day, plus two open-ended modes. Each takes about a minute.

The daily puzzles

  • Tonight, Tonight — the game deals everyone the exact same setup, and you build a band to fit it. One scored go per day.
  • Common People — a 3×3 grid. Every square sits where a row rule crosses a column rule; you name a musician who fits both. One grid a day, the same for everyone.

Two more ways to play

  • This Magic Moment — the game picks one time period and you build the whole band from it. Play as many as you like.
  • Rock ’n’ Roll Fantasy — every spot in the band gets its own time period, so the band spans eras.

Building a band — step by step

This covers Tonight Tonight, This Magic Moment and Fantasy.

  1. Tap SPIN. The game deals you a setup — how big the band is, a broad style, and a time period. You don’t choose these; they’re dealt to you, like cards. (There’s no genre menu — the style is just part of the deal.)
  2. Don’t like part of it? Tap the small circular arrow ↻ next to that box to re-roll that one thing, once.
  3. A list of musicians appears at the bottom. Tap one. If only one open spot fits them, they go straight in; if they could fill more than one, those spots light up and you tap the one you want.
  4. Keep going until every spot is filled.
  5. You get a grade and the size of venue that band could fill — anywhere from a back-room bar to a stadium.

Common People — the daily grid

  1. The grid has three row rules down the left and three column rules across the top — things like a band, a famous album, an instrument, a country, a decade, “Rock Hall inductee”.
  2. Tap a square. It tells you the two rules that cross there. Search a name and pick someone who fits both.
  3. You get 9 guesses, one per square — a wrong guess still uses the square up. Each musician can only be used once on the grid.
  4. The rarer your correct pick (a deep cut, not the obvious name), the lower your score — and lower wins. Nine right is an immaculate grid.
  5. Stuck? Give up & reveal ends the round and shows how you did.

After a result

Both puzzles give you a spoiler-free grid of coloured squares you can copy and paste into a chat — it shows how you did without giving the answers away. A band result also has a Share button that sends the poster. Come back tomorrow for the next board; playing on consecutive days builds a streak.
